When people ask me what I do my common response is "I am a courier". That opens the conversation up to well "What do you deliver?" and "Oh, how is that going"? I like that my answer invites conversation around my business but it leaves some big holes in the story. 1) My clients are more than clients. They are my friends.
That's right I have broken the golden rule of business. GOLDEN RULE: Treat each person the same so you can make a system you use with every client. I enjoy my clients. We talk and laugh. We share and over share. (TMI) Just like every other experience in my life, I make my business my own. Do you wonder how I treat each client like an individual and not a number? One day very soon I will tell you. Right now let's just say. A system is in place but it is one that works for a people person like me. 2) As simple as it sounds, coordinating the day is super complicated. As luck would have it everyone usually wants to book their errand at the same time. They may not necessary require that it be performed at the same time so then you have to sort it all out and try to fit everyone in. With that you have to consider how long each task will take. Not just the time it takes to do the errand but the travel time and any time spent in lines at the store. The new booking software I now use has really helped to simplify things so thanks to everyone who have already given it a try. 3) A variety of people use our service. Some people think that we only serve older people. Some people think that we only serve rich people. Our clients come from all backgrounds, age's and financial means. The best part about the clients that find us is that they are so innovative they think of new ways to use our service. Many of my ideas come from asking my clients. Out of the current regular client list I have college students at Livingstone and Catawba, 20 something car dealers and retired professionals. 4) We deliver more things than I can list. The question of what we deliver comes up every conversation. I use to start with a list when I answered but now I have narrowed down the answer. We deliver individual items of less than 55 lbs in the local areas we serve and you can not ride with us! Next the question evolves to individual things like: Do you deliver food? Yep! Do you deliver medicine? Yep! Oh and, do you deliver marijuana? Nope! Here are a list of some things we have delivered and errands we have performed: received an email, printed and delivered it golf clubs car parts factory machine parts medicine legal documents with signatures paid tickets medical specimen office supplies lots of food plus+ 5) All of our customers don't live in our local delivery areas. The beauty of the internet is if you put up a website, anyone in the world can find you. It's not instant and it takes some work to get up to the 450 views a day that this site has now. But it is possible. We work for and have worked for people in Maryland, Tennessee, California, Virginia and Florida. They needed something done in one of the counties we serve and found us on the good on internet. Finally, it is going well. I enjoy what I do. I love the people I get to meet. I learn something new every day and I hope to help as many people in my life as I can. It's not easy. But it is definitely worth it. Do you have a question about Rollin you would like answered? Please ask? With every question we learn a little something. Karen, the Delivery Diva P.S. Happy Monday! Make it a week to remember! Comments are closed.
