Here is the Back Up Plan I Came Up With
While I was trying to provide a quote for a delivery my cell phone kept losing wireless connection. It still had bars but for some reason would not load the page I needed. To be honest, I kinda wanted to throw it up against the wall .Just pitch it at high speed out of the car window. But I did not. Because without that phone I am driving without a connection to my clients. I wouldn't have directions to all the new places I am going and the biggest reason of all, no Candy Crush! Just kidding, kinda.
Basically, I need it, even if it is acting crazy. When the phone would not pick up I found a Subway sandwich shop and used their free wifi. I did not get the job but at least I had a chance to try. My phone worked fine for the rest of the day and I got the rest of them. What is my take away from this little cell phone dilemma. Always have a back up plan. If you run a business you should work on having a plan in place for any and all of life's little (and big) issues. My back up plan is having wifi hotspots along the way and having phones on me by 2 different carriers as I drive. I love that Rollin is the back up plan for some clients. People often call only a couple times a year as they need us due to illness or car trouble. Heck we even get calls when someone just does not feel like braving bad weather. What is your back-up plan? Oh the first time. It can be a little clumsy. I can remember my very first client and how excited I was. I probably would have delivered just about anything because I was so over joyed to get that call.
When the phone rang I had not even worked out how I would answer. At the time my business name was Senior Choice, so I picked up and said"Choice". That was it. Wow! No how can I help you are anything. The sweet voice on the other end was a resident at The Brian Center of Salisbury. She asked if I could pick her up a oscillating fan from the drug store down the street. This post is not about rating how much I like each of my clients but about the clients who know how to get the most out of my service. They plan out when and how they will have things delivered to get the best value. I started Rollin to serve people on an as needed bases but my best clients use the service on a regular bases daily or weekly. When they order they include any other errands at the same time to get the most out of the trip. They make sure to include stops at places that are in the same delivery areas so no mileage fees are added on. I love hearing from them daily and sharing whatever is going on in our lives. My best clients have become my friends and my biggest source of referrals. They give me feed back so I know how to improve my business. They share any likes and dislikes and I always make sure they are comfortable letting me know what worked and what did not. I enjoy all of my clients but I do admire the smarts of my best clients. They value time and independence and really know how to get the value out of Rollin. You Rock! Karen, The Delivery Diva As a Rowan County NC, resident I know that certain establishments have chosen in the past not to deliver to East Spencer NC. This issue was bought to light by a recent Facebook post. A resident was denied delivery service due to his promiscuity to East Spencer, or that is at least what he thought the reason was. I know that the restaurant delivers up to 5 miles away and that this person lives within that distance. People spoke on the situation on both sides. They stated that crime was up all around. Others pointed to crimes that had been committed in East Spencer, that they knew of. Rollin has not had the pleasure to deliver to East Spencer. We have not had any orders in that area. I have friends and relatives that leave in the area and I ride through daily. I attend events in town and have family that goes to church in town. I go to events at the park often and I wish the pool could open again. Safety is a major concern anywhere Rollin goes. Not just in certain areas. We avoid dead end roads and we do not carry cash. We take off the car signs to be less conspicuous and stay in the car at times. Goggle earth comes in extra handy to help size an area up. I am not saying that this restaurant is wrong, just that I hope they based the decision on the right factors. Tell me! Do you live in an area that does not receive delivery? Why, and how does it make you feel. Karen, The Delivery Diva |
