Before I start this blog out talking about how weird this year has been, let me
comment that there are still many things to be thankful for. Now let me say it: "This has been an unusual year." Many people are experiencing some financial burdens that have arisen from their jobs being affected. That means it is time to get creative for the holidays. Here are some ideas for that I have been thinking about. ![]()
An affordable gift that keeps on giving is a photo book or a special framed photo.
Make it special by framing a picture the receiver has not seen before. How about a framed picture of the family, a late relative or just you two together. To make it even more special scan the picture and put the occasion and date on the bottom. You could even add a special sentiment or poem. Pick up beautiful frames at any department store and even 2nd hand shops. The skies the limit with this idea. ![]()
Years ago I use to run a daycare.
One year one of the parents was so sad she could not buy me a gift due to financial issues. That Christmas she made me cookies. She put them on a pretty red plate. She let her daughter, who I kept, help decorate them. That was one of the most awesome gifts I have ever received. It felt special and thoughtful. Steal this idea by going to the grocey store and picking up some cookie dough. Bake up your own yummy cookies and decorate them with icing, candy, marshmallows and whatever sweet stuff you can think of. Place them on a plate from The Dollar Store or any department store wrapped in clear plastic. Kick if up a a little with a fun card with a sweet Christmas saying. ![]()
I think this is a cute and funny ornament.
Start a new tradition by giving a fun ornament each year. You can find them in tons of stores and even 2nd hand stores. Place it in a nice box and it will be a wonderful gift. Plus you can continue the tradition every year. ![]()
