Warren Buffett : "The poor invest their time, while the rich invest their money. " I have also heard it put "Rich people spend money to save time and poor people spend time to save money". Do you agree? Which one is more important to you? As a business owner I have learned to apply these saying as I see fit. Here is why. It you are thinking of these saying as an assault on one class or the other, don't bother.
Everyone does not have the same asperations and having a variety of different ideas about the ideal life is one of the things that makes life an adventure. I actually saw the 2nd adaption of the phrase first. It sparked interest in me immediately. I do not think of myself as rich or poor. When I saw this saying, that was not the part I focused on. It was the idea of the use of time. In my business we tell people how much time we can save them. But I figured out I was not taking my own advise in life. Not because I could not afford to hire someone to handle certain task but, because I felt like I should save the money and do it myself. In my personal life that has lead to some apparent diy home projects and less time with family. In my business it has lead to less time to do the parts of the business I love and are good at. I am by nature a do it yourselfer, but now I am learning that when you can afford the help of an expert or at least a specialist, you should invest in them. There will always be projects you can work on, but understand that as a novice it may and probably will take you longer. You may not do it as well either. No matter how long it takes. It is also great to invest in someone who does that thing for a living and could use your business. The next time you can, take that moment to save some time and pay someone else to do the job. Just a thought. I am getting better at this everyday. I did just paint the bathrooms🤔, but now I will hire someone to paint the foyer and den. This Christmas I have local crafters making gifts for my clients and I have guest bloggers for Blogmas. Monday Teresa Casmus of The Medicine Shoppe Salisbury will guest blog. I am so excited about her blog and you will love it too! Karen aka The Delivery Diva P.S. What thing have you tried and wished you had hired someone instead? Comments are closed.
