Blogmas Day 5: How to write an awesome grocery list that saves money and time

12/5/2021

Rollin does express shopping for clients every day.
We will purchase up to 12 items or less.
But other times clients order their grocery with an online service and just hire Rollin to pick up.
Sometimes clients will say they are trying to get the list together.
They mean that it is taking them a while to figure out what they need and want from the store or online.

Here are a couple of quick tips to help you make your grocery list quick and complete.
Picture
*Be at home when you make the list.
A "I think I have" list making style will always cause you to over buy or leave an item off.
Don't guess when you are making your list.
Get up and go look.

*Always make a list before you shop online.
Because online shops have cookies or trackers on your computer, they will happily invite you to buy additional items.
The pop ups and emails will be hard to ignore if you do not have a list.
It will also take a lot more time as you become distracted.
Search for the things on your list and keep it moving.

*Meal plan up until the next grocery trip.
You know what you like to eat.
Buy those meals and then try 1 or 2 new things.
Don't over explore when you grocery shop.
It may lead to you wasting a lot of good food and your hard-earned money.

*Include snacks
Don't forget to put your favorite quick eats on your list.
Forgetting snacks can cause you to make multiple trips to the store.
Whatever it is you like to snack on, make sure you pick it up with your grocery.
Plus, snacks are typically cheaper when you buy them at a grocery store and not a convenient store.

*Get items for the meals you eat
Are you a breakfast eater? If yes, make sure you pick up breakfast food you like.
If you or family is not much on breakfast, you may want to start your list with lunch items.
Make sure your list is honest and not aspirational.
When I first started trying to eat healthier, I bought lots of foods that I did not even try.
Find a way to eat what you need to eat without wasting good food and good money.

I hope these tips help you make a better list.
Let me know in the comments if you have tried list making or if you just wing it in the grocery store.
