Sometimes you just want a burger and fries.
When you think of fast food, or at least when I do, I think burger and fries.
Since our option for restaurant delivery is actually called catering delivery, people who aren't our regular clients think we don't deliver fast food.
By the way, if you want to know why we call it catering delivery...
We are so glad to be able to offer a little help to 3 students this year.
The judges have selected three students.
Rollin is honored to award them each with $100 dollars.
The plan was to award the scholarship to 1 elementary, 1 middle school and 1 high school student.
We did not have any elementary students to enter so we picked 3 recipients from the applicants we received.

Edrena Beatty of Granite Quarry, NC.
Mrs. Beatty was a dear friend of my mother. Mrs. Beatty is a retired local educator. This scholarship is in honor of my mother, Willie Boyd and my father, James Boyd.
Vernon and Anita Harris of Charlotte, NC.
Anita Harris is my wonderful sister. She and her husband, Vernon Harris are gracious supporters of many educational endeavors. Anita is a graduate of The University of Chapel Hill and Vernon Harris is a graduate of Livingstone College of Salisbury NC.

We want to help 3 families recoup the money they lovingly spend to send their babies to school.
$100 will be awarded to 3 Rowan County, NC students.
One student each in Elementary, Middle and High School will receive the $100.
The award will be presented the 3rd week of school.

I wanted to say goodbye to one of my favorite clients.
Really this client is my friend.
This story takes place about 5 or 6 years ago.
I had a regular client named Larry.
He was a great client that ordered 3 or more times per week.
Larry was the ultimate bachelor.
Often during the week Larry would order multiple errands and deliveries at once. Sometimes he would even order a couple days of deliveries to be completed during the week with varying drop off times and locations. They might include shopping and dinner pick up or dropping off a payment and picking up mail.
I can remember the week of the scam so well. Larry needed new pillows. He found some he thought he would like at Big Lots. He also needed groceries and cleaning supplies.
The biggest part of his order was a satellite that would help him get cable tv reception. He was going to have a friend install it on his RV. It was at the RV store that is located near the Concord Motor Speedway. I can not remember exactly how much everything cost but it was a pretty penny. At that time, I did not have any caps on the amount of money I paid for client items. Especially great returning clients like Larry. I paid for most of the stuff in advance except for the satellite which he paid for when he ordered it.
As a small business…. really as a micro business, it is difficult to make tons of offers. What I mean by offers is a variety of different services and combination of services. It’s hard because you have to have all types of different systems in place to record the service, take payment for the service and make sure it fits in with all the other services offered. Many of the experts say to make new offers all the time and see what sticks. Then if you get to something that sticks you can roll with it for as long as it is helpful to your clients. I must admit that the process of thinking up new offers is so fun to me. It’s the hoping clients like it and give it a try. But what I have realized is my real issue with the offers I create is that I rarely tell enough people about them. I am not even really sure people know all the ways that Rollin can help. Crazy, right! It’s so easy to get caught up working in the business that lots of things slide by. I am going to use this opportunity to talk about some of our offers. I hope you see something in here that can serve you.

Closing for an entire week. Here is why.
This blog is really an update about Rollin being closed for an entire week.
I can not remember the last time I took a complete break for more than 2 days from my company.
I have broken this blog in to some helpful sections.

Some people, including myself have driven most of their lives.
When it comes to driving, it is not the big trips that you miss when you for what ever reason can’t drive. It is the quick trips to the store or to ride and get a little alone time that make you miss driving.
Just because a person loses the option to drive it does not mean that the responsibilities they have go away.
They still need to eat, get their medicine, grocery shop and the list goes on.
They’ll still have things they want to do outside of their home as well.
Rollin has clients that no longer have the option to drive.
Many times, family members or their doctor have asked that they stop driving.
Other times financial issues limit the ability to have a car and all the expenses that come along with it.
Other times clients have loved ones that cannot be home alone, so even if they drive, the times that they can leave are severely limited.
Recently a client decided to stop ?driving.
Man does this dude look sleepy.
It may be that the meeting he is in is super boring.
It may also be that he just did not get enough sleep.
Some of our clients have shown us how they us Rollin to get more shut eye.
There is a difference and it helps our clients get more done.
Rollin is always trying to find ways to make our clients lives easier.

Some still do this, but many use the online carts that stores have now.

I have wondered before if ordering online helps people spend less or more.
That is as it applies to things people commonly need.
Like grocery and paper goods.
Or if they look at delicious food on the restaurant site if it prompts them to order more.
Because we are out so much, I rarely order essentials online.
I love Amazon and Aliexpress.
They are just not my go to for the basics.

As a small business owner watching the Super Bowl I could not help but think about what my company commercial would look like. Two large delivery companies had featured spots, and I enjoyed their commercials. They where not well received due to some past issues they have faced. So that makes the whole Super Bowl commercial thing even trickier.
Some things I know for sure about my commercial are…
I am honored everyday that I wake up and someone calls on Rollin Delivery to provide them with service.
I built this path for myself after seeing other women of color accomplish wonderful things.
It was even more wonderful that some of these women of color where relatives and friends.
I am too scared to start naming names, but I have had the privilege of being surrounded by greatness.
