Listening to our clients and doing the Math!

It's great to work closely with the people that we serve.
I don't always know everyone one that we serve with our business clients,
but most of the time we have occasional
communications by phone or email.
These personal conversations and emails give me clues
to how Rollin can serve clients better and
still be a profitable business
Here are just a few of the conversations that have lead to business changes.

PictureCan I pay you with Cashapp?
Payment for services has been a learning process for Rollin.
As a business we want customers to be able to pay us quick and easy.
We want them to feel comfortable knowing that their money is going to get exactly what they need.
But there are some things we have to take into consideration.
The security of the information that any payment system collects is vital. Rollin has always accepted credit cards and cash. We stopped taking checks early on and I bet you can guess why. The first time someone asked if they could pay with cashapp I had to decline. I had not done my homework. After some research I learned that Square register, one of the credit card processors I use was the owner of cashapp. The next time someone asked I was able to give them my cashtag name "$rollin4u". It all has gone well so far and people enjoy paying for their purchases with cashapp. Since them someone has asked to pay with venmo. I have still not done my homework on it. If you know anything about it, drop it in the comments.

I love the meme of this dog. The conversation that spurred this little meme was with one of my older clients. They had a caregiver that came in every week to clean and help them with personal care. The client let me know that the young lady was really good at her job, except when it came to talking. She was just the type of person who came in and got her work done without much chit chat. My client, just like me, enjoys a good laugh and friendly conversation.  From this little conversation Rollin offered the grocery put away help service. This service was created a little before Covid-19 so we have really not gotten to do it much. We still provide shopping and online shopping delivery but we only drop grocery at the door or in the kitchen. As a sad matter of fact we have not seen some of our clients in person since the lockdown occurred.  Hopefully we can get this service up and going again soon. We can help some of our clients put their grocery up and have a good little chit chat.

Do you remember the disco song "You can ring my Bell" from the 70's? I just ask cause that use to be my jam. The bell represents one of my clients telling me that sometimes they needed to tell me something after hours. Something that they would need done early morning right at opening. This client is not really fluent with smart phones or the computer. I follow my work hours pretty strictly in order to preserve my free time to do other things I love with family and friends. After my client told me this I added a bedtime mode to my phone. I told my client they could call and leave a message anytime and I would hear it first thing in the morning. Every night at closing my phone puts itself to sleep until the next morning. Messages come in and I see them as soon as I get started on the next business day.

Look at all that delicious sushi!
Are you a sushi eater?
I realize it is an acquired taste.
Something else that was an acquired taste was our restaurant delivery service.
There were just so many different services offering restaurant delivery that at first I was just going to scrape the service except for returning clients. Then one of my clients told me that because they always got enough food delivered for a couple of days it was more like they were getting catering delivered. That is how catering delivery began. I still do restaurant delivery for restaurants that I partner with. Catering delivery does not come with a preset amount that people should spend on their food. It is just at a higher rate so most people get large orders delivered. Many companies and people having meetings use our catering service.

These changes all add up to improved service for our clients. Our clients are the best!
