The whole story behind $2 Tuesday's!

7/25/2017

This story should really be called a business lesson I'm still learning. But any who.
$2 Tuesday started out as Fast Food Friday. If you have been a client for a while you may remember that.
At that time I wanted to introduce people to my business at a low entry price in the hopes that they would like it so much they would keep coming back.
Did it work?
Picture
Yes and No!
Some people did order on Friday's but they rarely kept ordering at regular price. Some did when they really needed to but for the most part No! It is absolutely fine that clients waited to use that deal. I think that everyone has some products or services they only purchase at a discounted rate. We love all kinds of clients but our main focus is on regular, repeat clients that we can build a working relationship with.
And even then the response was not what I wanted.
So how did the day get moved to Tuesdays?

Since the Friday response was not so great anyway, I decided that changing the day would not make too much of a fuss.

Why  Tuesday?
They were slow and even a slight boost would help.
A few of my regular clients used the value occasionally so I did not want to let it go completely.
I simply renamed it $2 Tuesdays and moved it on my website and let the few people who had used it before know of the change.

So how is the response now?
It is a lot better than it was before but, still not a home run.
One reason may be marketing.
Often when people order on Tuesday, they do not even realize it is a value day until we tell them.  That would mean we aren't shouting loud enough or not using the correct marketing medium.
Another reason may be the day.
Maybe Tuesday is an unpopular day to order restaurant delivery. That would lessen the client pool.
Yet another reason may be a lack of understanding about what the day means.
Since the beginning we have given the day a nice snappy name but, how much value does it have if people do not understand it. What I mean is, if you did not know the price of our regular delivery was $6 then you may not know why $2 was a good deal.

So.....
In the next couple of weeks you will see some changes in the way $2 Tuesday is marketed
and
explained.
I will give you an update on the results after I give
it some time to get out their good.
Hopefully you can take some of this information
and use it for your small business, side gig
or fundraiser.

Enjoy the Journey,
Karen, "The Delivery Diva"

P.S.
Do you know about our other Value Day?
And there are more coming!
I would love to know what you would like to see as a value day.
Comment and let me know.
